About

After completing the Laughing Horse comedy course in 2013, Lubna has become a regular face on the Scottish comedy circuit. She also gigs in the UK as well putting in the occasional appearance in the United States. With humour that based around her Pakistani heritage, Lubna attempts to both break down and play on the stereotypes attached to her background. She started performing comedy in the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 with a trio of lassies called the Funny Lassies.

In March 2018, Lubna's debut show, 'The Asian Ellen DeGeneres', premiered at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. The show acted as a showcase for Lubna's talent for character comedy - characters heavily-leaden with Asian stereotypes and a rich Scottish sense of humour. This was followed up by a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018.

2019 saw Lubna design her new solo show called, “Where are You Really From?” - a question asked by many people on a daily basis. Her reply depends on the person asking her. Early 2020 saw the her perform the new show in Leicester Comedy Festival following a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe the previous year.

In 2024 Lubna wrote her new comedy show called “ The C word ( not that one) and performed it at the Women’s Manchester comedy festival in October 24. It will tour in 2025.

Lubna is also a trained actor and has made appearances on stage, television and film. She was one of the stars of 'Still Game' at the Hydro in 2014 and has also made appearances in BBC1's 'Scot Squad' and 'Armchair Detectives'. She made her big screen debut in the feature film 'Moon Dogs’. In 2019, her second feature film” Christmas in the Highlands” saw her play the role of a baker. More recently Lubna makes a guest appearance BBC One's successful Scottish sitcom 'Two Doors Down', in the fourth season. In 2022 she was in successful Amazon Prime show “ “The Wheel of Time”.

Lubna has been very lucky to be awarded funding from Creative Scotland for her plays, Tickbox, Chatterbox and coming up in 2025, Lunchbox.

Workshops

Lubna, who has a Phd in pharmacy, and with over 35 years experience in the NHS is able to deliver a range for workshops with a focus on health and wellbeing. These will cover physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing and include delivering Health Mots on site.

She also covers issues such as stress at work and racism and discrimination, and is looking to run theses in schools as well as business of all sizes. These will be delivered in a fun theatrical manner.

Acting

As well as being a stand up comedian, Lubna is also an actress and has made several TV and big screen appearances to date.
